Optical System Technology
“Measure what is measurable and make measurable what is not yet measurable” – such demands are frequently made in research, technology and industry. Responding to the challenge, we are experts in optical metrology.
Production with perspective Optical sensors can detect what is invisible to the human eye. Benefiting from the advantages of optics, they are fast, high-resolution, measure without contact and three dimensionally. They can therefore increase the efficiency of manufacturing processes and identify materials with quality differences in good time.
The optical measurement techniques enable data processing in all the spectral ranges, the combination of spectral and spatial information, and the transition from cost-intensive offline processes to online measurements.
The CTR team strives to enhance optical measurement techniques by developing new sensor systems (spectral information, laser technology and microsystems). Their advantages in practical applications: greater reliability, smaller designs and thus higher profitability in production.

Spectral imaging
This new technology for characterising the surface of objects combines the advantages of spectroscopy with those of digital imaging. Spectral imaging (SI) makes the chemical, chromatic and geometric properties of an object visible, thus enabling its exact classification at the same time.

Laser developmentThe question of what light is dates back to time immemorial. But it was not until the quantum theory was developed that the different colours (spectra) in light were explained for the first time combining wave and particle characteristics. And without this fundamental knowledge of light’s properties lasers would be inconceivable.
In laser development, we at CTR focus on small, rugged and powerful lasers. Given their high energy efficiency and long service life of the pump diodes, the lasers are ideal for industrial use.
