Background:
Mahle Filtersysteme Austria GmbH is a part of the MAHLE concern. MAHLE is world leader in the automotive industry for pistons, motor components and filter systems, with over 30.000 employees at 65 locations in 22 countries.Mahle Filtersysteme Austria GmbH trusts in the competence of CTR for improvement of quality control systems. At the location in Carinthia, Mahle develops and produces filter cartridges and other filter elements for the automotive industry that are used in cars and trucks. Together with the specialists of CTR, an image processing system for in-line quality control of filter fabrication has been developed. Aim of the project was to optically detect the individual filters – or structures on a filter, like an adhesives layer - to ensure full compliance with product quality requirements.
CTR services:
An application-specific intelligent camera records the filters and evaluates the images by comparing them to a set point complemented by individually adjustable tolerance values. The result of the evaluation is sent in real-time to the process control system. If an object falls outside the permissible parameters, it will be ejected from the process automatically.
