Client:
HV Diagnostics AG (LDIC GmbH), Kesselsdorf (GER)
Background:
HV Diagnostics develops and manufactures instruments for dielectric diagnostics and monitoring on electrical power systems, apparatus and HV components. In this context, passive and contactless temperature measurement of overhead transmission lines and other HV apparatus in operation is of high interest to HV Diagnostics.
CTR services:
To allow the potential-free measurement of temperatures on high-voltage objects, customised SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) sensors have been designed, optimised and manufactured. Together with optimised interpretation algorithms, this now allows accurate temperature sensing at a reading distance of up to 15 metres.
As part of the underlying cooperative R&D project, HV Diagnostics took care of system-dependent aspects related to the self-sustained operation of the system in the field and the design of suitable, high voltage compatible sensor antennae.
Performance data: measuring range: -20 °C up to +150 °C
measurement accuracy: ± 0,5 °C
operating distance: ≤ 15 m
