Due to the thermal expansion of the crystal and the changing propagation speed of the acousitc wave you will get a time displacement of the signal peaks. As shown in the diagram the time displacement to be analysed is only a few nanoseconds. With an additional analysis of the phase shift you can reach a high-precision resolution of up to 0.01 °C.
