Carinthian Tech Research AG is an industrially oriented research centre for “Smart Sensors and System Integration”. As the largest non-university centre in the south of Austria, CTR is networked with industry and the sciences and an integral part of regional, national and international projects.
CTR is represented in the Austrian COMET research programme with the “ASSIC Austrian Smart Systems Integration Research Center”, a K1 competence centre.
We cater for junior scientific staff by offering topics for masters/diploma theses on an ongoing basis in our R&D competence areas.
The team in the research field of Microsystem Technologies uses state-of-the-art technologies in order to develop new and unique solutions based on micromechanical systems – from the concept to the first proof of concept and on to the prototype.
Heterogeneous Integration focuses on technological development for the integration of separately produced components in a higher-level overall system. This leads to more functionality and improved performance while at the same time accomplishing miniaturization.
With the objective of creating specific system innovations, the Photonic Systems team focuses on driving multidisciplinary research and development of optical, optoelectronic and mechanical components forwards by employing a coordinated and holistic approach.
Smart Systems are increasingly gaining attention in industry with a view towards creating new products and processes with better function, quality and efficiency. But smart systems also require smart development methods. Smart Systems research has the know-how necessary to efficiently integrate leading-edge technologies into a wide array of applications.
